Ireland has a huge range of top quality family friendly hotels  with self catering accommodation ranging from three to five star hotels. In many ways a hotel with self catering is the perfect answer to the problem that many families face of overcrowding in hotel rooms. A family who usually lives in a three or four bedroomed house may take some acclimatising to staying in one or two rooms while on holiday for a full week.

If you are self catering you have freedom, privacy and flexibility whether you are travelling with a baby who may wake in the early hours of the morning, a young child who is going through the terrible twos or a teenager who wants to have their own space and get away from the rest of the family for a while.

There has been a significant increase in the amount of family accommodation and serviced  self catering accommodation in Ireland most of which have great family facilities over the last few years and this is very welcome. The Irish Hotels Federation has a great new Healthy Eating for Kids campaign with over 250 hotels and guesthouses signed up so far which is good news for parents who want their children to eat healthy food while on hoilday which can be an issue.
