Top 10 things to do and see on a rainy day in Galway city with kids

Visit the Aquarium then pop into Arabica for babychinos and honey bagels afterwards (baby changing facilities available).

Go for a swimming expedition to leisureland or Kingfisher Club.

Park the car at the Galway Shopping Centre, Headford Road, let them ride the carousels if younger, browse kids books in Hughes & Hughes, visit Poundstretchers for cheap treats, then refresh yourself in the Insomnia café in Hughes & Hughes or the café in the main section of the shopping centre. Finish up at the soft play at Leisureworld (Baby changing facilities available).

Visit Charlie Byrne’s on Middle Street for their top-notch kids books section followed by either drinks and nibbles in the café behind the bookshop or lunch in child-friendly Milano’s (Baby changing facilities available in Milano’s for patrons).

For kids that are old enough take in a matinee at the Eye Cinema or Omniplex in Galway or Oranmore.

Visit the new Galway City Museum.

Put on wellies and raincoats for brisk walk on promenade followed by brunch in Lohan’s or pizza or pasta at Da Roberta’s.

Park on the 4th level of the Merchants Road parking garage, ride the elevators into Eyre Square Shopping Centre, then stop for ice-cream or refreshments at the bottom of the Centre with a visit to the ABC bookshop to finish off (Baby changing facilities).

Let them go wild at one of the soft play areas at City Limits in Oranmore, Busy Bees in Oranmore, Monkey Business in Knocknacarra or Leisureworld at the Galway Shopping Centre. (Baby changing facilities).
