Family Wild life adventures

(29 Mar 2009)

Wildlife and nature based specialist, Reef and Rainforest Tours has highlighted three exotic destinations from their 2009 'Family Wildlife Adventures' brochure where wildlife has either 'paws' or 'claws', or both, and can easily be spotted by adults and children.

The following 14-day itineraries are available throughout the year with prices based on two adults/two children under 12 years old sharing family rooms throughout, inclusive of international return economy flights, accommodation, internal flights and transfers, guides and tours as listed.

"WILDLIFE BRAZIL" , suitable for families with older children, features three main wilderness habitats - the Amazonian rainforest, the vast Pantanal plains and the Marau Peninsula. "Paws and Claws" wildlife spotting opportunities include many varieties of monkey, jaguar and the shy tapir in Amazonia; and giant otter, giant anteater and hyacinth macaw (the world's largest parrot) in the Pantanal. The Marau Peninsula meanwhile offers superb, near-deserted beaches and the chance to snorkel and relax in this wild, unspoilt coastal region. Prices start from £4,176 per adult and £2,648 per child.

"FABULOUS FAMILY WILDLIFE ADVENTURE IN PANAMA" - This fascinating country, suitable for children of all ages, offers both relaxation as well as marine and jungle wildlife exploration on two coastlines - the Caribbean and the Pacific - not to mention visiting the famous Panama Canal. Panama's abundant 'paws and claws" wildlife includes close to 1,000 species of bird - including the harpy eagle, elusive quetzal, five macaw species and 52 hummingbirds - and wild bush dog, jaguar, puma and five species of monkey. Prices start from £3,057 per adult and from £1,995 per child.

"DE LUXE BELIZE FOR DISCERNING FAMILIES" combines the best wildlife lodges and coastal resorts in three very different locations. Highlights include the world's second largest barrier reef with world class diving and snorkeling, Mayan ruins and lowland tracts of pristine jungle. Activities include guided wildlife walks and night boat safaris, horse riding, canoeing and manatee watching. With almost 40% of the land in Belize being protected, its forests support a vast range of wildlife including five cat species and over 500 species of birds. Prices start from £2,662 per adult and from £1,745 per child.
